Society is degraded to the point that the only plausible rebellion lies in expressing extreme prejudice and even that begins to feel tiredly mainstream. In response to a query: British flapjacks are kind of like gooey cereal bars made of oats, honey, apples and currants (I think what kind of fruit is optional) all mixed together and then mashed into a thick rectangle and then baked.
